If you want some extra inspiration, you should definitely check some bands that include flute in their works.
- Empyrium: German folk/metal band
- Noekk: From the same Empyrium's band members
- Ulver: Check their only folk release, "Kveldssanger"
I also find interesting some Japanese folk songs, done with a Shakuhachi (their own flute).
